We supply and fit all the common styles, so you can pick the right one for the job. Closeboard, built from feather-edge boards on arris rails, is the strongest and best for security and privacy. Lap panels are a lower cost option for a straightforward boundary, and post-and-rail suits open plots and paddocks. We can hang matching gates, step a fence down a slope so it follows the ground neatly, and finish with post caps and trellis where you want a bit of extra height or detail.

The posts are what make or break a fence. We concrete them in at the right depth and spacing so the run stays rigid in the wind, which matters on the more exposed plots around north Essex and out towards the coast. Gravel boards take the wear at ground level and keep the panels clear of wet soil, so the timber lasts far longer before it needs attention. All the timber we use is pressure treated against rot, and we can advise on a colour or treatment to keep it looking its best.
Before we start we check the boundary line and, where a fence is shared, we are happy to talk it through with you and your neighbour so everyone is clear on what is going in. Most garden fences up to two metres do not need planning permission, but we will let you know if your situation is different, for example a boundary onto a road or a listed or conservation setting. We clear away the old fence and all the offcuts, and leave the boundary tidy.
If you only need a repair rather than a whole new boundary, we are happy to help with that too. We can replace a few storm-damaged panels, reset or renew a snapped post, and match the new timber into the existing run so the repair does not stand out. Whether it is a single panel or a long boundary, you get the same care over the posts and the finish.
