The posts are what make or break a fence. We concrete them in at the right depth and spacing so the run stays rigid in the wind, which matters on the more exposed plots around north Essex and out towards the coast. Gravel boards take the wear at ground level and keep the panels clear of wet soil, so the timber lasts far longer before it needs attention. All the timber we use is pressure treated against rot, and we can advise on a colour or treatment to keep it looking its best.

Before we start we check the boundary line and, where a fence is shared, we are happy to talk it through with you and your neighbour so everyone is clear on what is going in. Most garden fences up to two metres do not need planning permission, but we will let you know if your situation is different, for example a boundary onto a road or a listed or conservation setting. We clear away the old fence and all the offcuts, and leave the boundary tidy.
